One guys solo adventure around the world

Where Have You Been?

Where Have You Been?

Some of you may be wondering where have I been these last 5 months. Well, the truth is, I temporarily sold out.

Remember my last few posts, urging you to quit your job and travel. Take the big leap into the unknown, have an adventure. Well, I did the first part, I quit my job. But at the end of the month’s notice, work asked me to come back, at a considerable raise.

sold out to the man

Hey, I’m only human. I took at 12 week contract, for a very large sum of money, and stayed on to finish the project I was working on. I figured travelling could wait a few months, and I would have a lot more money in the bank to travel with — Its about the means to an end right?

So anyway, 12 weeks went by pretty quickly, and I got asked to extend another 12 weeks. Since it was coming up to December (Summer in Western Australia) and Christmas, I figured it was worth waiting another 12 weeks. I let them know that I wouldnt extend past the end of Feb 2011 though, otherwise I could see myself selling out completely and forgetting about my travel dreams.

And that brings us to today.

Christmas is recently over (Merry Belated Christmas everyone), and I have now booked my ticket overseas. Finally.

April 16th is the big departure date. Im flying out of Perth into Turkey.

Stay posted for updates on my “new” itinerary for 2011. Assuming I have no issues at the border ;-)

Sounds like a smart move to me Ian as you can never have enough money to travel with. Turkey is a great first stop and if you make it to England then be sure to look me up as I will happily buy you a beer.

    Happy travels!

YAY! Been wondering what you were up to and so glad you were able to save up a bit more and are HITTING THE ROAD soon :-)

No set plans yet, but I think I’ll be in Perth in March on my Tassie & WA tour before I have to head out of Oz. Would love to meet up!
